A graveside service will be held for Wanda Baugess at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Union Chapel Cemetery (near Van) with Rev. Gene Smith and Pastor Joe Pittman officiating.
Violet Wanda Wooten Baugess was born January 27, 1932 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Joseph Arthur Wooten and Mable Ruth Perry Wooten. She had been a resident of Whitehouse for 34 years, formerly living in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a member of Voice of Deliverance Full Gospel Pentecostal. She was a gospel singer and member of The Gospel Echoes. She was also a song-writer and wrote poetry.
Wanda passed away at the age of 88 on June 1, 2020 in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James S. Baugess (2011).
Survivors include her sons, Steven Cary Preston of Ohio, Jeff Preston of Ohio, Deborah Lynn Sparks of Kentucky, and James Baugess, Jr. of Whitehouse, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
