A celebration of life will be held for Walter Cook, Sr. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Caney Creek Cowboy Church in Grand Saline with Pastor Randy Edwards officiating.
Walter Eugene Cook, Sr. was born April 22, 1938 in Wellington, Texas. He had been a resident of Fruitvale for 16 years, formerly living in Terrell and Irving. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Caney Creek Cowboy Church and a former member/deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Kroger, where he worked as a truck driver for many years and belonged to the Kroger Rodeo Truck Drivers Association. During his many years of over the road truck driving, Bucky was awarded many safety awards. He enjoyed riding horses and dancing.
Mr. Cook passed away at the age of 83 on July 21, 2021 in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell "Judy" Cook; daughters, Aletha Diane Fink and Leslie Kaye Cook; brother, Arthur Cook, Jr.; and parents, Arthur Lee Cook, Sr. and Hattie Juanita Jordan Cook.
Survivors include his children, Doris Stephens (Rick) of Denton and Walter "Bud" Cook, Jr. (Danica) of Grand Saline; three sisters, Maxine Pattillo (Gilbert), Betty Williams (Ray), and Connie Hallmark (Carter); son-in-law, Mike Fink; grandchildren, Melissa Burns (Jon), Jessica Sherman (Danny), Dustin Stephens (Amanda), Stephanie Fowler (Marcus), Tiffany Koffel (Jamey), Chealsey Brown (Fletcher), Thelisa Underwood, Whitney Hebenstreit, Mitchell Cook (Teresa), Tessala Tucker (Jackie), and Tre Cook; and numerous great-grandchildren.
