James Dwight Wilcox March 14, 1934 - September 14, 2020
Services for James D. Wilcox will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with Pastor Kevin Burdett officiating. Visitation will start at 12:30 at the church, and a graveside will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery, Martins Mill. James Dwight Wilcox was born March 14, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. He had been a resident of Flint for 22 years, and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He retired from the U. S. Air Force after 20 years of service. Shortly after retirement, he entered the field of nursing, a career he was very proud of and passionate about. He was also a passionate song-writer, and enjoyed writing music about the Lord. James passed away at the age of 86 on September 14, 2020 in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee Wilcox and Mary Ruth Warren Wilcox; son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Judy Wilcox; son, Travis Williams; and daughter, Melissa Hardin. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Betty Joan Wilcox of Flint; siblings, Dwayne Wilcox (Diane) of WA, Jeanette Tillery of Arlington, and Bill Wilcox (Ann Love) of Carrollton; children, Don Wilcox (Yesenia) and Sue Ellen Ware (Carl); special family, Kim & Ken Northenscold, Frank & Betty Williams, Teresa Doffer, Debbie Williams, Lynda Christian, Trisha & Donnie Raburn, Lori & Carl Swope, and Cyndi & Eric O'Teney; 35 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
