On 07-07-2020 Steven Waymond Morgan gently passed away at his home in Athens, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimers disease & other medical issues.

Steve was born in Hobbs, New Mexico to Waymond Earnest Morgan and Jo Ann Morgan on March 4, 1960 and moved to Athens, Texas when he was 1 year old. He lived most of his life in either Athens or Murchison Texas but did reside briefly in the Log Cabin & Callender Lake area. From an early age, Steve was known for his love of anything mechanical and working on such things all his life. Most know Steve from his almost 27 years with the City of Athens as a mechanic & shop supervisor, but other jobs included City of Murchison Water Department, Kickapoo Construction, Adams Brothers, & Fowler Furniture. Many years ago, he was a volunteer firefighter for Murchison VFD. Steve loved hotrods, gardening, & eating, as well as bible study and attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses where he was a baptized member.

Steve was previously married to Shannon Wilson (Moseley). They had 3 children named as Amanda Gayle Morgan, Crystal LeAnne Morgan, & Steven Waymond Morgan Jr. Steve was preceded in death by his father Waymond Earnest Morgan on 5-4-2006 & his daughter Amanda Gayle Morgan on 4-10-2020. He had many grandkids who lovingly knew him as Grumpy, those being, 4 grandsons from Amanda Morgan named Xain & Chris Simons, Tristyn Boswell, & Gage Morgan, 2 grandchildren from daughter Crystal Morgan, granddaughter Cheyenne Smith & grandson Corey Smith, and 1 granddaughter Addison Morgan born to son Steven Morgan Jr & daughter in law Bayli Morgan, with another granddaughter on the way in September 2020. Steve also had 5 siblings, brother David Glenn Morgan, sisters Jill Tiner, Lisa Hill, Terri Werlinger, Jeanna Jackson and numerous nieces & nephews.

Since 11-22-2003 & at the time of his passing, Steve was married to Janet L. Gill Morgan. With this marriage he gained an adopted stepdaughter, Lisette Carpenter, son in law Pete Carpenter and 4 granddaughters, Mia, Breanna, Esme, & Chloe. Steve & Janet enjoyed many road trips to places & especially to Galveston on their anniversaries. They also shared a love & many laughs for their numerous pets over the years, from the small chihuahua & dachshund, to their favorite breed, the Great Dane.

Due to Covid 19, Steves memorial will be held on August 1, 2020 at 2 pm & it will be conducted over Zoom.
