Services will be held for Lou Hill at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 9 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Ronnie Brey officiating. Visitation will be at 3:00 prior to services.
Elsie Lou Rodgers Hill was born January 31, 1934 in Grand Saline, Texas, the youngest of ten children. She had been a resident of Pruitt for 58 years, formerly living in Grand Saline. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Grand Saline. She was a retired office worker and caregiver. Mrs. Hill spent many years as an active parent for the Van Vandal Band, Van FFA and with the Lone Star High School Rodeo association. In later years she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events.
Mrs. Hill passed away at the age of 85 on July 5, 2019 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Sam" Hill; parents, James Zebadee Rodgers and Ruth Ola Burran Rodgers; sisters, Dorothy Carpenter and Leta Smith; brothers, James Rodgers, Allen Rodgers, Morris Rodgers, Glen Edward Rodgers; nephews, Weldon Sides, Mickey Couch, Eddie Rodgers and Danny Rodgers.
Survivors include her brother, Rip Rodgers, age 91 of Grand Saline; two sisters, Eunice Coffman, age 93 of Grand Saline and Annie Sides, age 95 of Grand Prairie; daughter, Donna Taylor of Pruitt; son-in-law, Don Taylor of Grand Saline; son, Sammy Hill and wife, Sherry of Pruitt; grandchildren, Donya and Chris Kerby of Van, Dustyn Taylor of Tyler, Destyn and Seth Crow of Pruitt, Terry Ford of Tyler, Aly Hill, Mady Hill and Gus Hill all of Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Skylar Kerby, Gaige Kerby, Layne Kerby, Dietz Crow and Delilah Crow, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
