Clark "Eddie" Edward Johns, Jr.

Clark Edward “Eddie” Johns Jr. was born September 4, 1937 and was called home to our Lord on November 5, 2018. He grew up in Van, TX and graduated Van High School in 1956. He served our nation proudly in the U.S. Navy on the USS Wasp from 1957-1961 and continued in the Reserves until 1963. He retired from Carrier in Tyler, TX in 2009 after nearly 38 years. Eddie was born to Minnie Denton Johns and Clark Edward Johns and was the last of their eight children. He is preceded in death by his brothers Irvin, Melvin, and Homer Johns, his sisters Gertrude Johns Whitaker, Bernice Johns Zaiger, Merlene Johns Ford, and Perlene Johns Williams.
He met and married Irma “Nanny” Beatrice Stiefer Johns on February 16, 1963. Together they celebrated 55 wedding anniversaries and had four children together. Margaret Robertson of Malakoff, Anthony Johns of Ben Wheeler, Deborah Walton of Ben Wheeler, and is preceded in death by their Theresa Johns.
He leaves behind 11 grandchildren. Kalli Porter Nack, Cheyenne Robertson, Anthony, Benjamin, Caleb Voltz, Bryce Johns, Ashton Johns Tivis, Aria Johns Davis, & Alexis Walton, Jacqueline Andrews Stone & Drake Andrews.
He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, Kynlee & Karlin Nack, Jacob, Lexi, Caleb, Tahlor, Teegin, Tucker Tivis, Payton Davis, Lily, Lucy, Trace & Layla Stone.
Eddie loved fishing, his Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, but most of all His Van Vandals. His greatest enjoyment in life was going to any sporting games or activities his children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren participated in.
There will be a grave side Military Service at New Harmony Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Per Eddie’s wishes we ask that this be family only. The family precession will begin at Eddie & Irma’s home located on CR 4905 at 10:45 AM.
The Memorial Service for friends and loved ones will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at New Beginnings Baptist Church located at the corner of HWY 64 and VZ CR 4901 in Ben Wheeler, TX. Everyone is invited to attend a potluck lunch at 12:00 PM to enjoy fellowship time together in remembrance of Eddie just the way he wanted it. If you plan to attend the luncheon, please bring your favorite potluck dish.
In lieu of flowers Eddie wishes for you to donate to the H.E.A.R.T. Research Institute in his name.
