I was saddened to learn of James passing when I read his mother's obituary in Facebook today. I met Smitty while I was assistant nurse at Camp Soroptimist in 1982, we became friends and went on a rafting trips on the Guadelupe with friends. He was always smiling. I loved receiving his typed letters for years. He will be sorely missed. My sincere sympathy on his loss and that of his mother. Prayers sent.

Ronnie and Judy Taylor

Tyler, TX

It is amazing how many memories that we have shared with Mrs. Freta Smith down at Van Healthcare. Ronnie's mom was in the care home and Freta was always stopping by the door checking in on the family and our Granny Taylor (Zenobia). When I went to play piano for the home, she would be in the hallway visiting the patients and I would get a hug and tell her how she blessed my heart. We shared the Birthday events monthly, and she brought the wonderful cakes for the residents to enjoy. She was in charge of getting the cakes to the home from her church or baked some herself. There are no words that will heal your hearts but we love you all dearly and prayers being lifted for you during this very difficult time. God bless you.

Allen, TX

I am very sorry to learn of Freta's death; another of her generation who had a real impact through our First Baptist Church family on my own generation. She was a wonderfully sweet woman. She was always kind to all the children in the church, and we all loved her very much. I'm sorry for your family's loss. I know you will miss her always. You were very lucky to have her for so long.

Jerry Don, Sherry, Larry and Beverly,
Wishing you sincere sympathy, peace and comfort. Freta was such a giving and talented lady. She loved her family and her children immensely. I cherish her handwork of the blankets she crocheted. I am so very sorry for your loss. My family and I wish will pray for your comfort.
