Services for David & Brenda Tapley will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 at Van United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark McClanahan officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. before the service at the church. A graveside service will follow in Malakoff.

David & Brenda passed away Sunday evening, May 10, 2015 during the tornado that struck their home in Van, alongside their three beloved dogs.

David Thurman Tapley was born June 7, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. He retired from Garland Police Department after 32 years of service. He was currently working as a realtor/broker for Tankersley Real Estate. David was a Mason and licensed minister.
Brenda Kay Axe Tapley was born September 10, 1952 in Garland, Texas. She worked as an executive assistant for Eyecare & Surgery Center, as a special education teacher, and also as a secretary for Van UMC for many years.

The Tapley's were faithful members of Van United Methodist Church, and owned Tapley's Texas Miniatures. They had been residents of Van for 13 years, formerly living in Quinlan, Plano and Garland.

Survivors include their daughter and son-in-law, Tanya & Kenneth Killgore of New Braunfels, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Alan & Khara Tapley of Quantico, Virginia; Brenda's mom, Erna Axe of Garland; Brenda's brother, Al Axe and his wife, Natalie; David's brother, Doyle Tapley and his wife, Martha; David's sister, Charlotte Beasley; four grandchildren, Kristena Cook, Chase Tapley, Chandler Tapley and Kaylee Tapley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
