Obie Wayland Nations Jr.
April 19, 1944 - June 20, 2014

Obie Nations, Pops, lived his life as a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. His love and work ethic has been passed down to his kids and all those with which he came in contact. Whether it was helping young mechanics grow in their craft or masonry workers finish a project, Obie was always there to lend a helping hand or a gentle nudge to get the job done right. His friends include anyone who came into contact with him as a lifelong acquaintance or a passerby. Obie never met a stranger.

As a young man, Obie had a love for Jesus and a love for gospel music that he shared with people all over Texas and the southern United States. With his gift of a soulful voice, he touched the lives of countless people, always showing the love of Christ through song and through the message. Always willing to lend a hand, there are countless stories of Obie helping other musicians, or others when their bus was broken down and they were stranded. He would help anyone, anytime he could and if he couldnt, he would find a solution to help get them home.

Obies love for his family was as big and as strong as his handshake was. Obie loved Judy more than anything in this world and the only thing close to that was the love he had for his kids and especially his grandkids. They will now be charged with the task of carrying on his legacy of helping and loving others.
