Ben Wheeler - Services for Sondra Johnson, 48, of Ben Wheeler, TX will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Hilliard Funeral Home in Van, TX with the Reverend Shelby Davidson officiating under direction of Hilliard Funeral Home Van. Sondra went home to be with the lord on July 7th after a courageous one and a half year battle with Thyroid cancer.
Sondra was born July 24th 1961 in El Paso Texas to Darwin & Frieda Smith. Sondra graduated from Van High School in 1979, Tyler Junior College in 1981, and has worked at Brookshire Grocery Company in the Information Technology department for over 21 years. Sondra was an avid tennis player who enjoyed the many friends that she made playing league and tournament tennis. She was a friend to many. Full of life and always ready to give to anyone who needed anything.
Burial will be in New Harmony Community Cemetery under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home of Van.
Sondra was preceded in death by both her Mom and Dad. Sondra is survived by her husband James P. (Pat) Johnson of Keller, TX. One Son, Nathan Jordan of Ben Wheeler, TX. Sisters Barbara Ford and husband Danny, Susan Austin & husband Steve, Step daughter Jaime Neal of Chapel Hill, Step sons Brandon Johnson of Rhome TX, and Casey Johnson of Teague TX. Nephews Michael Ford, Douglas Austin, Nolan Austin, Niece Kim Ford, Great Nephews Tristan Ford, Jace Ford, Jaden Austin, Great nieces Baleigh Ford & Gracie Austin. Step grandsons Caleb & Caden Neal, Step granddaughters Bayli Johnson & Natalie Neal.
Pallbearers will be David Smith, Billy Lewis, Kevin Huntsberger, Melvin Dean, Sam Jordan and Mike Wyles.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2010 at Hilliard Funeral Home.
