Services for Gene Wommack are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Shackleford officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Mr. Wommack passed away at the age of 65 on March 4, 2010 in Athens.
Harvey Eugene "Gene" Wommack was born June 7, 1944 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Lester Wommack and Jenie King Wommack. He had been a resident of Murchison for about twenty years, formerly living in Arlington. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro, and was active in the Edom Community Theatre. He served in the US Air Force for four years, as well as the US Navy for two years during Vietnam. He also owned and operated A-1 Glass and Mirror in Ben Wheeler for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Laura Lou Raby and Elizabeth Davis; and two brothers, Willie Wommack and Lowell Wommack.
Survivors include his wife, Murlene Wommack of Murchison; daughter, Joyce Le Tank and husband Dwight of Murchison; two sisters, Barbara Philbrook and Sue Lynn Stumpff, both of Missouri; "brother", Patrick Vosburg and wife Joy of Dallas/Ben Wheeler; three grandchildren, Joshua, Duane and Kristen; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dwight, Josh, Trevor and Trace.
Visitation will be held at Hilliard Funeral Home Sunday night, March 7, 2010 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
